Are you ready for the new job interview?

An applicant for a job is fully expected to find out as much as possible about the company, learn the usual questions and prepare a good letter of presentation. But he or she should also prepare for the unexpected. Human resource experts don’t want to know about you, they want to put you to the test. Discover some tips for success and to get through these challenging job interviews.

In addition to wanting to identify a candidate’s professional skills by means of an interview, it’s increasingly common for his or her social skills, flexibility, creativity and solidarity to be put to the test, depending on the company’s corporate values. After all, professionals’ personal characteristics are just as important as or even more important than their competencies.

With regard to the above, it’s increasingly common for interviewers to ask for examples of how candidates previously did their work, how they coped with a certain situation or how a lesson was learnt from a mistake, or to refer to situations that could arise during the new job and ask the applicants to outline how they’d resolve them.

What can happen during job interviews?

  • If it isn’t conducted by means of a video call, the format that’s becoming the most common, you may be asked, for example, to describe, in five minutes, as many consequences of it raining upwards as you can. In this case they put your agility and ingenuity to the test.
  • As soon as you arrive they ask you to sit down in what could be your workplace and ask you to do it. Or they put you to the test in a real situation to see if you can deal with it with ease.
  • Somebody interrupts the interview with a surreal surprise. They’ll thus see how you react to unexpected situations.
  • You find yourself playing a certain part in a role play with other candidates.
  • They interview you during a casual meal.
  • You undergo a neuro-technological test to see how your brain reacts to certain stimuli.
